Saint Charles Sestercentennial Celebration

On Saturday, May 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 19 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. celebrate St. Charles’ past and future during the 250th celebration!

Meet key figures that played a part in the past 250 years:
Louis Blanchette – Founder of St. Charles at 906 S. main
St. Rose Philippine Duchesne – Founder of Academy of the Sacred Heart at 402 S. Main
Mary Easton Sibley – Founder of Lindenwood

Enjoy historical vignettes and skits:
St. Charles and the Birth of the Interstate – Gazebo, 400 S. Main
Local Abolitionists and Flight for Freedom – 301 S. Main
First State Capitol and Anti-Dueling Legislation Debate – 200 S. Main
Heroes Day 1942. Rally for the War Effort – 100 Blk. North Main
History of the Theatre and Preforming Arts in St. Charles – 311 N. Main

Discover a tale of three cities:
Historic Demonstrators and Authentic Encampment – Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery, Militia de San Carlos, French and Indian War Encampment and John Murphy (Surgeon from 1700s)
Lewis and Clark Keelboat on Display
Old-Fashioned Vintage Baseball Game – Played with 19th century rules and 1860s equipment

We love a parade:
The parade will be on Saturday, May 18 at 10:00 a.m. It will begin at Bales park, go through Frenchtown and finish up on Main Street.

Partake in FREE guided tours of Main Street:
The tours will take place Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. starting at the Tourism Center, 230 S. Main.
